The Garden Apartment

The Garden Apartment is a beautifully restored apartment in what was originally stable hand accommodation in our 18th century stables courtyard on Galloway House Estate. It has a large, enclosed lawn and garden - shared with the Hay Loft - with an organic vegetable patch for your use, and a table and chairs and a barbeque.A safe external stair leads to the apartment (which is all on one level), which has exposed floorboards and beams and natural flooring. The spacious and comfortable sitting room has a wood burning stove, a TV and DVD player and plenty of books and board games. The well-equipped kitchen has seating for six and a dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, and highchair. There is also a washing machine for your use directly below the apartment.

Along the hall there is one large double bedroom with a king-sized bed and two twin bedrooms. The bathroom at the end of the hall has a shower and large freestanding roll-top bath.

The Garden Apartment also has WiFi.

Also at the stables courtyard is a tennis court and outdoor swimming pool for your use. We also have a games room in a converted barn in the courtyard with a table tennis table, table football, a small climbing frame, yoga mats etc for you to use during your stay.

It is a 5-minute walk from the Garden Apartment to a safe, sandy beach at Rigg Bay and a 10-minute drive to Wigtown – Scotland’s National Book Town – with its second-hand bookshops and annual literary festival. The Garden Apartment is also the perfect place to explore the wider Galloway landscape: coastal and hill walks, mountain-bike trails, sailing, sea-kayaking and wild swimming.

The Garden Apartment adjoins our smaller Hay Loft, which has 1 double bedroom. Booking both is perfect for larger groups and extended families.
