The Hay Loft

The Hay Loft is a beautifully restored apartment in what was originally the hay loft of our 18th century courtyard on Galloway House Estate. It has a large, enclosed lawn and garden - shared with the Garden Apartment - with an organic vegetable patch for your use, and a table and chairs and a barbeque.A safe external stair leads to the bright apartment (which is all on one level), which has exposed beams and natural flooring. The spacious sitting room has a woodburning stove, plenty of books, and a TV. The kitchen has wooden flooring and is a well-equipped with an electric oven, double sink, fridge and a large oak dining table. There is also a washing machine for your use directly below the Hay Loft.

The large and comfortable double bedroom is furnished with a king-sized bed. The bathroom has no shower, but a free-standing bath to soak in.

The Hay Loft also has Wifi.

Also at the stables courtyard is a tennis court and outdoor swimming pool for your use. We also have a games room in a converted barn in the courtyard with a table tennis table, table football, a small climbing frame, yoga mats etc for you to use during your stay.

It is a 5-minute walk from the Hay Loft to a safe, sandy beach at Rigg Bay and a 10-minute drive to Wigtown – Scotland’s National Book Town – with its second-hand bookshops and annual literary festival. The Hay Loft is also the perfect place to explore the wider Galloway landscape: coastal and hill walks, mountain-bike trails, sailing, sea-kayaking and wild swimming.

The Hay Loft adjoins our larger Garden Apartment, which sleeps 6. Booking both is perfect for larger groups and extended families.
